The Double Life of a Therapist

Finding Clarity After the Storm

Cristina Culligan is a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist based in London and the founder of Senin Therapies, a practice dedicated to helping people move through life’s challenges with greater clarity, resilience and purpose.

Her work is practical, grounded and deeply human.

Through Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, she blends evidence-based techniques with hypnosis to help clients move beyond surface-level symptoms and address the underlying patterns driving their struggles.

Because real change doesn’t come from managing symptoms alone.

It comes from understanding what’s beneath them.

In her sessions, Cristina works with clients to identify unhelpful thought patterns, challenge limiting beliefs, and build a stronger tolerance for uncertainty, something that feels more relevant than ever in today’s fast-changing world.

But beyond that, her work invites something deeper.

A reconnection to values.

A sense of meaning.

A way forward that feels aligned, not just manageable.

Her clients come to her for many reasons: insomnia, anxiety, fear of flying, public speaking, confidence, stress, pain management.

But what they often leave with is more than relief.

They leave with tools they can carry into their everyday lives.

And a clearer sense of who they are and what matters most.

The Experience That Shaped Everything

Cristina’s work didn’t come from theory alone.

It came from lived experience.

In her early twenties, she lost her fiancé.

A moment that changed everything.

Grief, in its rawest form, forced her to confront a depth of emotion that many spend a lifetime avoiding.

But instead of turning away, she leaned in.

And in that space, she discovered something unexpected:

That love doesn’t disappear with loss.

It changes form.

It stays.

That understanding, combined with her experience of navigating life as a double migrant, gave her a deep awareness of how quickly life can shift and how essential the right support becomes in those moments.

That’s what led her to create Senin Therapies.

The name itself comes from the Romanian word senin: meaning clear, calm, serene.

Like the sky after a storm.

Not the absence of difficulty.

But the return of steadiness.

And that’s what she believes is possible for every person.

Holding Space and Building Something Alone

There’s a side of therapy that most people never see.

When you train as a therapist, you learn how to hold space.

How to listen.

How to stay present with someone else’s pain without losing yourself in it.

But no one really prepares you for the other side.

Running the business.

Managing emails.

Building a website.

Creating content.

Thinking about visibility, strategy, growth.

As a solo practitioner, Cristina lives in both worlds.

The therapist and the entrepreneur.

The one sitting in stillness with a client in the morning and the one solving business problems in the afternoon.

And the transition between those roles isn’t easy.

Therapeutic work requires emotional presence and energy.

And at the same time, the business demands structure, consistency and momentum.

There’s also a quiet loneliness in building something on your own.

A kind of discipline that happens behind the scenes, unseen by others.

And yet, within that challenge, there’s something deeply meaningful.

Because every client who walks through her door is there because she chose to keep going.

To show up.

To believe in the work, even on uncertain days.

That’s the paradox.

The very things that make solo practice difficult are the same things that make it meaningful.

Balancing Two Worlds

Right now, Cristina’s biggest challenge isn’t a lack of passion or direction.

It’s the constant shift between roles.

The moment a session ends, another world begins.

Emails.

Admin.

Content.

Strategy.

A business that needs just as much care as the people within it.

It’s not something that’s holding her back.

But it is something she’s learning to navigate more efficiently.

To move between those identities: therapist and entrepreneur with more ease.

More fluidity.

More intention.

Because both matter.

And both are part of the life she’s building.

The Meaning of Senin

At its core, Cristina’s work is about helping people find their way back to themselves.

Not by removing pain entirely.

But by helping them move through it with clarity.

With steadiness.

With a deeper understanding of who they are.

Because life will always bring storms.

But on the other side, there is something else waiting.

A quieter mind.

A stronger self.

A clearer sky.

And sometimes, all it takes is the right support to see it again.

At Reignelle, we’re reminded that healing isn’t about erasing the storm.

It’s about learning to walk through it without losing yourself.

Because when you reconnect with clarity, even after the hardest moments, you don’t just recover.

You return to a version of yourself that feels steadier, stronger and more whole.
