Balancing Family, Wellness, and Business

Overcoming Redundancy & Embracing Change

Gill’s journey into holistic wellness wasn’t a straight line.

Fifteen years ago, when she was made redundant from the NHS, she faced a turning point.

What could have been a setback turned into the catalyst for a new, purpose-driven career.

With a deep desire to help people improve their health, Gill began exploring nutrition, fitness, and wellness as ways to transform lives and eventually, her own.

However, this new path didn’t come without its hurdles.

Gill admits that for a long time, she struggled to communicate what made her unique in the crowded wellness space.

Without a strong support system and juggling family commitments, building a business from scratch proved difficult. But Gill’s resilience kept her going.

“I was motivated by my desire to help others,” Gill says, reflecting on her challenges.

“Even without the right support, I knew I had something important to offer.”

Navigating Family Life and Business

Now, Gill’s business, which she’s been building for just five months, operates part-time around her family commitments.

In the last few months, things have started to click.

With newfound knowledge and confidence, Gill believes she’s finally on the path to success.

“The most rewarding part has been hearing how people’s lives have changed after receiving my support. Whether it’s reducing pain, reversing inflammation, or just feeling better in their own skin, that’s what keeps me motivated,” she shares.

Gill has also faced the challenge of finding the right clients, those who need her services and are ready to embrace the transformation she offers.

Building a client base without significant startup support has been tough, but Gill knows it’s all worth it.

Beyond her business, Gill also looks after her grandson, Jak, a couple of days a week. “He’s a joy to have,” she says, reflecting on the precious moments spent with him.

Having missed the early years with her daughters as she had to return to work full-time, this time with Jak is especially meaningful.

“Any mums who would like to stay home and spend that quality time with their children—I have a solution for you,” Gill says with a smile.

“Let’s have a chat so you can check it out, it may be exactly what you’re looking for.”

Facing Fears and Overcoming Regrets

Looking back, Gill has a clear realization: not securing funding early on for a wellness center was a missed opportunity.

If she could go back, she would have made a bigger leap sooner.

But her journey hasn’t been about perfection; it’s about continuous growth, both personally and professionally.

“Sometimes I wish I’d gotten the loan to start a wellness center from the beginning, but I’ve learned so much over these years. I’ve come to understand that everything happens for a reason.”

Family, Health, and Time Freedom

Outside of her business, Gill is also dedicated to supporting her mother, who has dementia.

This has deepened her understanding of wellness and caregiving in a whole new way, especially as she juggles her own health, family, and career.

“I want to have time freedom so I can spend more time with my family, especially my mum,” Gill says.

It’s clear that her journey toward wellness isn’t just about her clients; it’s about creating a life that’s balanced, fulfilling, and rooted in purpose.

At Reignelle, we’re all about supporting those who are on their own journey of transformation, just like Gill.

Whether it’s through overcoming personal challenges, finding purpose, or creating a life of wellness, it’s about building something that truly aligns with who you are and the impact you want to make.
