A Journey to Mindset and Soul-Care Coaching
Missy Blackmer has always been passionate about helping others, especially women struggling with mental health.
But it wasn’t until 2022, when she decided to fully embrace her calling as “The Mental Health Chick,” that she took her vision to the next level.
Originally created to be a space of encouragement for women dealing with anxiety and mental health challenges, Missy’s platform has blossomed into something much bigger: a transformative coaching business that helps high-achieving women break free from perfectionism, burnout, and over-functioning, so they can lead lives that reflect their true purpose.
For Missy, the journey wasn’t a straight path.
It was filled with self-doubt, fear of failure, and personal struggles.
But through faith, resilience, and a deep commitment to her vision, Missy is now guiding others to find balance and personal growth in a way that honors both their mind and soul.
Discovering Her True Calling
Missy’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2016 when she was helping another company grow a mental health office.
It wasn’t just the work itself that inspired her, it was the possibility of creating something that could have a lasting impact.
Soon after, Missy dove into leadership training, which fueled her desire to help others in a way that was more holistic and broad-reaching than traditional therapy allowed.
By 2021, Missy was ready to explore coaching as a business. But life, as it often does, threw some challenges her way.
Between a full-time job, two kids, and the demands of everyday life, it felt like everything was moving at a snail’s pace.
Yet, Missy didn’t give up. In 2024, after overcoming numerous obstacles, Missy took the bold step of quitting her full-time job to pursue her dream full-time, and the results have been nothing short of transformative not just for her clients, but for her as well.
Navigating the Path to Success
One of the biggest hurdles Missy faced on her journey was fear—the fear of failure, the doubts about whether she could truly make her vision a reality.
With the support of her faith and a solid network of friends, Missy worked through those fears.
She learned that success wasn’t about perfection, but about progress and consistency.
Today, she’s coaching women on how to do the same—embrace imperfection, trust in the process, and build a life that aligns with their deepest desires.
And while her coaching business is growing, it isn’t without its struggles.
Coaching with Heart and Soul
What sets Missy apart is her ability to blend her mental health expertise with mindset and soul-care coaching.
She works with high-achieving women, particularly those in the healing professions like therapists, coaches, and leaders, to help them overcome burnout, perfectionism, and imposter syndrome.
Missy’s coaching philosophy is rooted in her personal experiences—she’s walked the same road of self-doubt and fear, and understands the pressure of trying to “do it all.”
She believes in guiding her clients toward sustainable growth by creating a life that honors both their professional ambitions and personal well-being.
Her client, Krista, shared, “Missy can meet you where you are in a holistic manner and guide you in your personal growth in an impactful and sustainable way. She is both relatable and highly experienced, and helped me develop the tools needed to take stock of my life and find balance.”
Balancing Business, Health, and Life
While Missy’s journey is inspiring, it hasn’t been without its challenges.
She deals with menopause, fibromyalgia, arthritis, and ADHD—conditions that often make her feel overwhelmed and unable to focus.
As a high-achieving woman, it has been humbling for Missy to confront her own limitations, especially when dealing with body pain that has persisted since 2008.
Despite these health challenges, Missy remains resilient, working with an integrative doctor, taking prescribed medications, and staying active within the limits of her body.
She’s also learning to balance her coaching business, which is still growing alongside her counseling practice.
Though her counseling office isn’t yet profitable, Missy is confident that it’s on the path to success, and with the right tools and marketing efforts, her coaching business will follow suit.
Living with Purpose
Looking ahead, Missy’s vision for her business is clear.
She dreams of a four-day workweek, bringing in $10K to $20K per month, with the freedom to travel and speak at events.
While the realities of time and money can sometimes feel like roadblocks, Missy’s faith and resilience continue to propel her forward.
She’s dedicated to teaching women how to balance their careers, families, and personal well-being, while also pursuing their passions.
Through her coaching, she wants to help women shed the pressure of perfectionism and learn to trust that their God-given purpose will lead them to success, both in business and in life.
