Where Movement Meets Mental Health

The Power of Movement Meets the Power of the Mind

In a world where mental health challenges are on the rise, especially among youth, finding a space to connect, express, and grow is more vital than ever.

For Sai, the founder of ARISE FIT, this vision became a reality through her unique blend of movement therapy and mental wellness support.

ARISE FIT works with young people aged 12-24, including underserved populations such as those with disabilities.

Their offer a diverse range of activities including dance, martial arts, somatic exercises, sports, nature walks, journaling, and crafts alongside therapist-guided discussions.

Our goal is to create a safe, supportive space for youth to build confidence, express themselves, and connect with others.

But Sai’s passion for supporting youth and mental wellness didn’t just emerge overnight.

It was sparked years ago, shaped by powerful, life-changing moments, and fueled by her own journey of growth and healing.

A Passion for Youth Empowerment

Sai’s journey toward ARISE FIT began in 8th grade, long before the idea of a nonprofit had taken root.

She recalls an eye-opening moment when she reestablished a debate club at her school.

Some members were loud and boisterous, prompting a warning from the teacher about losing the club’s space.

After the meeting, Sai learned that their behavior was not just out of personality—it was a coping mechanism. For many of them, the club was the only place they felt seen and safe.

This realization was a turning point for Sai.

She understood how a young person’s environment could drastically affect their emotional well-being and that moment stayed with her.

It ignited a deep desire to understand mental health on a deeper level, prompting her to pursue a degree in psychology and eventually launching ARISE FIT.

Sai’s journey wasn’t just academic, it was rooted in her own passions.

Dance and taekwondo became her lifelines.

Taekwondo taught her discipline, focus, and resilience as she earned her black belt, while dance gave her creative expression and confidence.

These experiences gave her the foundation to build a new vision, a space where young people could grow emotionally and physically.

A Fusion of Movement and Mental Wellness

The concept for ARISE FIT began to crystallize while Sai was in college.

After earning certifications in personal training and Zumba, she launched Sync’n with Joy, a YouTube channel blending movement with mental wellness.

Her mission was clear: help others discover the healing power of movement.

One pivotal moment occurred when Sai partnered with a local mental health nonprofit to lead a Zumba session for a group of girls.

The feedback was overwhelming, participants were not only physically energized but emotionally uplifted as well.

It was in that moment that Sai realized the potential impact of combining movement with mental health support.

This realization came full circle when a girl in one of Sai’s college classes shared her struggles at home and her sense of powerlessness.

Sai’s heart broke, but it also fueled her to take action.

She understood that the same need for emotional support, validation, and self-expression was universal among young people.

It was time to bring this vision to life so ARISE FIT was born.

A Safe Space for Self-Expression and Growth

ARISE FIT is more than just a fitness program.

It’s a sanctuary where young people can feel empowered and seen.

After each movement session, a therapist facilitated conversation follows, allowing participants to discuss topics like body image, peer pressure, self esteem, and anything they feel is important to their mental health.

The program includes movement-based activities like dance, martial arts, and somatic exercises, all designed to help participants connect with their bodies and emotions.

In addition to these sessions, we engage in a variety of other meaningful activities.

For example, we’re currently wrapping up a back-to-school fundraiser for a long-term foster home supporting 50 kids with school supplies.

We’re also planning a celebration event for youth (ages 12-18) on the autism spectrum and those with disabilities, featuring raffles, a talent show, and other fun activities for them to enjoy.

This holistic approach ensures that ARISE FIT isn’t just about physical health, it’s about mental and emotional well-being.

In an age where social pressures can overwhelm, Sai and her team offer a powerful reminder that there is a safe space for every young person to grow, express, and become who they are meant to be.

Empowering the Next Generation, One Movement at a Time

At ARISE FIT, the focus is on creating an environment where youth can thrive where they can express themselves freely, explore their mental health, and engage in movement that supports both their bodies and minds.

With her own life experiences as a guide, Sai is paving the way for a new generation of empowered young people who are ready to face the challenges of today’s world with resilience and confidence.

This fall, ARISE FIT will be rolling out its pilot program for youth aged 13-18, and it’s already shaping up to be a game-changer.

At Reignelle, we believe in the transformative power of movement and mental wellness, and we are excited to support initiatives like ARISE FIT that empower young people to live their best lives.
