Empowering Runners to Find Joy and Fulfillment Through Movement
Dani Flanders, a UESCA-certified running coach, has one goal: to help people rediscover the joy in movement.
Through her business, Wild Joy Running, Dani blends joyful running with purposeful mindset work, guiding runners of all abilities to a more fulfilling relationship with exercise.
Whether you’re just starting out or recovering from burnout, Dani’s coaching approach is all about recognizing the limitless potential within you.
Founded in 2024, Wild Joy Running offers both individual and group coaching tailored to runners of all levels.
Dani’s journey as a coach wasn’t immediate, but rather evolved from a spark of inspiration during her second Dopey Challenge—a realization that coaching was the perfect avenue to combine her love for running with her desire to help others.
A Coaching Approach that Blends Movement and Mindset
At the heart of Dani’s business is her commitment to fostering joy through movement.
“I help people find a more fulfilling and joyful relationship with movement,” Dani explains.
Though she specializes in running, her approach is broad, offering coaching for anyone who wants to create more positive habits with exercise.
“I work with runners of all levels, but my focus tends to be on those just starting out or those recovering from burnout,” she shares.
Running isn’t just about physical endurance for Dani, it’s about the emotional and mental shifts that happen when we align our movement with our true selves.
From Imposter Syndrome to Coaching Success
Like many entrepreneurs, Dani faced self-doubt early on.
“The most difficult part was simply knowing where to begin and finding the confidence to get started,” she reflects.
It wasn’t until she was deep into training for her second Dopey Challenge (a grueling four-day race series) that the idea of becoming a running coach came to her.
“It just clicked,” she says. “I realized this was my way of combining my passion for running with my desire to help others.”
However, even with this newfound clarity, Dani still struggles with the common challenge of imposter syndrome.
“I know how to reach and grow my client base marketing, promotion, collaboration but doubts still creep in,” she admits.
Dani’s journey with imposter syndrome is ongoing, but it hasn’t stopped her from making a major impact on her clients.
“It’s about taking things one step at a time,” she says, “and staying true to the message of joy and purpose through movement.”
Clients Running Toward Success
Dani’s impact can be seen in the success stories of her clients.
“I’m currently working with a client who just completed her first 10K,” she shares.
“I also have clients training for their first marathons, as well as someone aiming to redeem herself by completing the Dopey Challenge after a previous DNF (Did Not Finish).”
Helping people achieve milestones like running their first race or completing a challenge is the essence of Dani’s coaching.
“It’s incredible to watch clients transform,” she says, “not just physically, but emotionally as well.”
The Struggles of Balancing Business and Life
Running a business is no easy feat, and Dani wears many hats—coach, marketer, business owner, content creator, and more.
“The biggest challenge right now is juggling all the different roles I play within my business,” she admits.
“As a solopreneur, it can be stressful to balance everything and make sure I’m consistently showing up for my clients.”
Despite these challenges, Dani has learned that movement is a key to keeping her aligned and focused.
“When I move, I feel good, and when I feel good, I’m able to better manage my time and tasks,” she shares.
With a background in personal development coaching, Dani has also tried various time management techniques to improve her efficiency and stay grounded.
A Future Filled with Growth and Impact
Dani is excited about the future of Wild Joy Running and has big dreams for growth.
“I’d love to expand my group coaching platform,” she says. “This would help foster a sense of community among my clients and make the experience even more valuable.”
She’s also motivated to continue spreading her message of joyful movement to as many people as possible.
As for her personal life, Dani is already living a life she feels good about. “I’m very happy with where I am in life. My business provides me with independence and purpose, and I’m really grateful for that,” she says.
Her ideal future is simply an extension of the current joy she feels.
“I’m living it right now. growing my business while staying true to the principles of joy and fulfillment.”
