Holding Space While Building Stability

Becoming a Steady Presence in Life’s Hardest Seasons

Paula Harrison-Hill supports people navigating some of life’s most tender and demanding transitions.

Based in Norfolk, she is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Therapist who works with individuals facing mental health challenges, grief, trauma, relationship shifts and the complexities of motherhood.

Her approach is eclectic and intentional.

Using modalities such as CBT and solution-focused therapy, Paula helps her clients build autonomy, resilience, and clarity not by telling them what to do but by supporting them in discovering what works for their lives.

Her work centers on meeting people where they are, especially in moments when life feels uncertain, overwhelming, or heavy.

A Calling Forged Through Experience

Paula’s path into therapy was not accidental.

She felt spiritually led to help others through difficult seasons, drawing from her own lived experiences as a source of compassion, insight, and psychosocial understanding.

Healing, for her, is not abstract, it is deeply personal.

Her journey toward licensure, however, was anything but easy.

Seven months into accruing the 2,000+ clinical hours required for independent practice, the 2020 pandemic hit.

She lost her job and found herself juggling multiple full-time and part-time roles just to stay afloat, all while continuing her residency requirements.

There were many moments she wanted to quit.

But she didn’t.

She stayed committed to the long road because she knew she was walking toward her purpose.

Choosing Persistence Over Ease

Becoming licensed demanded endurance, sacrifice, and faith.

That process shaped Paula into the clinician she is today, someone who understands what it means to keep going when resources are thin and hope feels stretched.

Now licensed, she stands as a light in dark places for those seeking support, stability, and care.

Yet, building a sustainable practice brings new challenges.

Client referrals have slowed since her early days, impacting not only income but her ability to invest in advanced training and certifications that would expand her clinical reach.

Holding Vision While Building Stability

Paula carries a bigger vision for her work.

She hopes to pursue EMDR certification to deepen trauma healing and a perinatal mental health certification to better support women through the emotional realities of motherhood.

She also dreams of writing a book or creating a mental health tool that could provide residual income and broaden her impact.

The challenge is access.

These certifications require significant financial investment, and without a consistently full caseload or alternative income streams, her business currently functions just to cover essential expenses.

Still, her commitment hasn’t wavered.

She continues to show up for her clients, for her calling and for the future she’s building one step at a time.

At Reignelle, we honor women like Paula, those who persist through uncertainty, lead with heart, and continue to believe in the work even when the path requires patience.
