Overcoming Inflammation and Reclaiming Health
Julia Chien’s work as a Registered Dietitian is deeply personal.
After struggling with severe eczema and Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW), Julia set out on a healing journey to not only understand her own body but also to help others do the same.
She helps individuals uncover the root causes of chronic inflammation like eczema, gut issues, and other inflammatory conditions by blending evidence-based nutrition with mind-body practices.
Her approach is holistic, aimed at not just managing symptoms, but embracing a balanced, non-restrictive lifestyle that empowers individuals to live fully and freely.
Julia’s story is a testament to the power of understanding one’s body, listening to its signals, and trusting the healing process.
From Personal Struggles to Empowering Others
For Julia, her passion for helping others began with her own struggles.
After years of battling severe eczema, she went through a transformative healing process, which included overcoming the debilitating effects of Topical Steroid Withdrawal.
During this journey, Julia discovered how deeply connected the body’s systems are and how understanding the root causes of her symptoms was key to her recovery.
With her own healing experience as a foundation, Julia started helping clients in 2020, guiding them through their own challenges with chronic inflammation and skin conditions.
She integrates nutrition therapy with mind-body practices, teaching her clients how to reconnect with their bodies, listen to their symptoms, and embrace healing from a place of understanding, not restriction.
Julia’s approach empowers clients to see their symptoms as messages from their bodies, helping them navigate the healing process with patience, compassion, and trust.
Finding Balance in Business and Life
Building her practice wasn’t easy for Julia.
At the start, it was overwhelming, handling everything from admin tasks to content creation to learning new platforms.
As a business owner, the pressure of managing a new venture while navigating personal healing led Julia to experience burnout in 2021.
Her eczema flared up, which led to moments of imposter syndrome and self-doubt.
Julia questioned whether she could truly help others heal when she was still struggling with her own inflammation.
However, instead of letting this setback define her, Julia used it as a catalyst for growth.
She realized that self-compassion and a balanced approach to healing were essential not just for her clients but for herself as well.
By taking a step back and re-aligning with her purpose, Julia came back stronger, more focused, and committed to helping others without sacrificing her own well-being.
Her story is a powerful reminder that healing is not linear and that true empowerment comes from embracing the ups and downs of the journey.
The Need for Personalized Healing
As Julia’s practice grew, she found that more people were seeking personalized, one-on-one care rather than group programs.
Although she initially found success with group offerings, she noticed that her clients thrived when they received individualized attention tailored to their unique needs.
Pivoting back to 1:1 care was a big shift and it’s been a demanding and exhausting transition for Julia.
But it’s also been an opportunity to deepen her connection with her clients and refine her approach to healing.
Networking in-person in her local community has added a new dynamic to her practice but it’s also brought fresh challenges as Julia steps outside her comfort zone to build connections and share her work.
This transition has taught her the importance of being selective with her time and energy while continuing to offer deep, personalized support to those who are ready to embark on their healing journeys.
Helping More People Heal, Together
As Julia continues to evolve her practice in Vancouver, BC, she’s excited to explore new ways to reach and support even more individuals.
Her goal is to expand her offerings, creating programs that bring together the benefits of both personalized care and community support.
She remains deeply committed to her mission of helping others understand their bodies, heal from within, and embrace a life free from chronic inflammation and restrictive diets.
Julia’s approach is a reminder that true healing doesn’t come from quick fixes or trends, but from an integrative, compassionate process that honors the wisdom of our bodies and the unique journey we each take.
